LABOR DAY WEEKEND AT THE CROTON ESTUARY

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

With the news that access to the Croton Gorge Unique area had been closed, conditions were almost back to normal on the Croton River for the 2019 Labor Day Weekend.  The somewhat reclusive great blue herons  who had temporarily gone "inland" so to speak, returned to feed in more open waters, while local kayakers continued to remove garbage all day Saturday and Sunday. You can read more about that here.

As always, many thanks to our intrepid kayakers.

  1. I personally watched two kayakers pulling separate kayaks filled with black bags of trash last week. I have never seen it this bad in all the years we have lived here. It's why we no longer swim locally but go to a pool instead.
