OBITUARY FOR VITO FRANZOSO

Vito Franzoso passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 90 on Thursday, December 20th, at his home in Croton, where he was born and raised.

He was born on November 8th, 1928 to Peter Franzoso and Maria Palmietto, who immigrated from Bari, Italy seeking a better life.

Vito graduated from Croton Harmon High School. He joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 137 in 1950, and was a proud member for over 50 years. With his brothers in 1959, built Bari Manor Apartments and many homes throughout the village.

Vito was a life member of Chemical Engine Grand Street, six doors down from where he was born and raised.

Vito was predeceased by his wife Janet, sister Rose, and brothers Mario and Dominic. He leaves behind brothers John and Peter, and daughters, Nancy Gronseth (Cliff), Marcy Fisher (Sam), Vicki Flowers and son Peter Franzoso (Danielle). Grandchildren Katherine, Monica, Danielle, Tricia, Sophia, Christopher, Caleb, Asa, Anthony, Peter and Giovanni, and many nieces and nephews.

A private family mass was held at Holy Name of Mary Chapel on Saturday, January 12th, celebrating his life. Burial at the family plot followed at Good Shepard. Memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were handled by Torsone Funeral Home.
