Welcome
to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history,
our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of
worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
Autumn has begun...click on the photos and links...
FALL'S FIRST SUNDAY in the Hudson Valley started out remarkably gray and chilly--the perfect opportunity to try the seasonal offerings at the local Dunkin Donuts: Pumpkin flavored and Maple Pecan flavored coffees. We like them both...
Next up, a visit to the Verplank Nature Preserve, fast becoming one of our favorite spots (click here).
Suitably re-charged, we headed to the Cortlandt Farm Market, where pumpkin mania is in full swing...this place has some of the biggest pumpkins we've seen for sale in these parts, not to mention unusual varieties like Turbans (click here) and larger multi-ribbed pastel Jahendales (click here). There are also lots of smaller pumpkins, gourds, potted mums, Halloween, and related decor items available---apples, jams, produce, etc. https://cortlandtfarmmarket.com/
Back in Croton, the 34th Annual Croton Rotary Car Show (and Chili Contest) was in full swing. Emceed by former mayor Dr. Greg Schmidt, this event is an important fundraiser for the club's many charitable endeavors. Stay tuned for more.
p.s. Congratulations to Mex-to-go, who came in first at the 2018 chili contest. And you can find the second and third place winners at http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2018/09/and-winners-of-2018-croton-rotary-car.html
UPDATED 9/30, 2018 ROTARY CAR SHOW WINNERS ARE HERE.
And finally, Sunday buffet at Croton's own Raga Indian Cuisine. Recently featured in Westchester Magazine, click here, Raga has some of the best Indian food around for miles.
Very grown-up, excellent service, perfectly spiced. For more about Raga: facebook.com/ragaindiancuisine/
