CROTON'S HOWARD DA SILVA, THEY LIVE BY NIGHT, 1948

As many of you know, HOWARD DA SILVA was one of Croton's most notable residents. You can read more about that here. 

Recently we came across a 1948 ad and mini review for the classic RKO film noir THEY LIVE BY NIGHT, starring Farley Granger, Cathy O'Donnell and Da Silva.  Da Silva's performance as Chicamaw "One-Eye" Mobley is described as "magnificent". (Click on the images).

The film is the prototype for the "couple on the run" genre, and is generally seen as the forerunner to the movie Bonnie and Clyde. 

Robert Altman directed a version using the original title of the novel, Thieves Like Us (1974).
