SHOPRITE COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS, A 2018 UPDATE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Recently there have been calls to boycott certain Croton businesses until they agree to a village-wide ban of plastic bags; such a proposal to ban plastic bags is  currently under discussion by the board of trustees. (Read the letter from Franki's Grill here.)

The primary business that would be effected by this ban is Shoprite, which completed a multi-million dollar renovation just last year.  Shoprite is a big area employer and has a long history of community outreach and veterans support.  Here are just a few examples culled from the Everything Croton archives, etc. in no particular order.  This list BELOW of community contributions by Shoprite is by no means complete.....(All photos, all rights reserved.)  Your editor believes it is important to acknowledge these contributions especially at this time.

  2. Another problem with bringing your own bags has been people who use them to steal. We often go to other markets when we travel and on the entrance is a note advising people to use carts and baskets and not to put anything in their reusable bags if they have them until checkout time.
