OBITUARY FOR CROTON NOTABLE PATRICIA BENOIT SWIFT--Who lived in Croton 1961 thru 1981....

NEW YORK TIMES - Patricia Benoit Swift, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 6, 2018. In 1946, Patricia Benoit, at age 19, came to New York City from Fort Worth, Texas to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. For three years following her graduation, she acted in summer stock and Off-Broadway productions. Her first appearance on Broadway was in "Glad Tidings," starring Melvin Douglas. She later appeared in "Middle of the Night," starring Edward G. Robinson, "Time Limit," with Arthur Kennedy and Richard Kiley, "The Brass Ring" and a number of other productions. During those years, she also acted on television, including roles in the early days of live television, such as on the Philco- Goodyear Television Playhouse, Robert Montgomery Presents, The Alcoa Hour and others. Her most notable TV role was as Nancy Remington, the sweetheart and wife of Wally Cox's character on "Mr. Peepers" for the entire run of the show. Read more here

AND FROM THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: Her TV wedding was a ratings smash in 1954. She earlier starred opposite Melvyn Douglas on Broadway. Patricia Benoit, who played Nancy Remington, the sweetheart and eventual wife of Wally Cox's character on the 1950s NBC sitcom Mister Peepers, has died. She was 91.   1. I remember seeing this show in re-runs though I was very young at the time. It's back there like Car 54 Where Are you. They don't make shows like that anymore. Maybe if they did, the networks would be in a different position these days.
