Smug accomplice media players apparently believe that defaming their hated political enemy doesn’t constitute defamation.
Corrupt corporate media are losing their collective minds after ABC News and Clinton sycophant George Stephanopoulos agreed to a defamation settlement with President-elect Donald Trump.
ABC has agreed to write a hefty $15 million check to the foundation planning Trump’s presidential library to pay for the “regret” it is finally expressing over repeated false and damaging statements about the incoming president during the campaign.
To leftist journos like NPR TV critic Eric Deggans, ABC’s concession “feels like one more mainstream news organization bending the knee.”
First of all, ABC News and its corporate ilk are not “mainstream media.” If this election proved anything it’s that the major networks and dying newspapers like The New York Times and The Washington Post are absolutely out of touch with most of America and anything but mainstream.
Deggans and his self-righteous colleagues in the “Resistance 2.0” that have served as apologists for an authoritarian regime for the past four years see all things tyrant in another Trump Administration. They also apparently believe that defaming your political enemy doesn’t constitute defamation.
Leftist clique reporter Paul Farhi lamented on X that the payout represented “an awful precedent and a huge sellout.” Interesting phrasing from people who have been selling out journalistic ethics for years — Russian collusion, Hunter Biden laptop, the censorship state, Joe Biden isn’t the cognition equivalent of KFC mashed potatoes and gravy, Kamala Harris is competent … you get the picture.
