THAT TIME OF YEAR!!!!! THE HOLIDAY BARBIE BOLLS HAVE ARRIVED & A REMINDER THAT THERE'S A CROTON CONNECTION TO BARBIE DOLLS AS WELL

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Delighted to see that the quintessential Holiday Barbie Dolls have arrived (we have always called them "The Christmas Barbies" but no matter). Find them in Croton ShopRite, Walmart and other venues---and as always, they go very fast.

Click on the photos for just a few examples from assorted years--2020, 2014, 2012, and 2024 (image via Walmart).

P.S. No comments from the politically correct peanut gallery please. At this blog, we love the elegant and elaborate Christmas gowns.

For those who don't know: Barbie Dolls were invented by Ruth Marianna Handler (née Mosko), an American businesswoman and inventor. She served as the president of the toy manufacturer Mattel Inc.---the doll's design was created by missile engineer-turned-toy designer Jack Ryan.

And did you know that there's a Croton Connection to this iconic doll?

From the book, FOREVER BARBIE, by M.G. Lord---this was a fun read and highly recommended:

AS STRATEGY SESSIONS BEGAN IN HAWTHORNE, THE HANDLERS made a brilliant tactical move. They commissioned a toy study from Ernest Dichter, Ph.D., director of the Institute for Motivational Research in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

The study cost a staggering $12,000 and took six months to complete, but when it was finished the charge seemed low.

Dichter had masterminded a cunning campaign to peddle Barbie.   (YOU CAN FIND LORD'S BOOK ON AMAZON.)
