LOHUD/JOURNAL NEWS: YORKTOWN AND CROTON HARMON SCHOOL DISTRICTS SECURITY BREACH TAKES DAYS TO IRON OUT

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

LOHUD---Two Westchester school districts were targeted by a cyber security attack on school-based desktops and laptops that kept students learning at home.

The Yorktown and Croton-Harmon districts both fell victim to a security breach on Monday that took days to iron out.

In a communication to district families, Croton-Harmon Superintendent Deborah O'Connell said the incident was a ransomware attack. This kind of data breach keeps an organization from accessing its data in order to solicit a ransom to get the data back. https://www.lohud.com/story/news/education/2020/10/15/yorktown-croton-harmon-schools-suffer-cybersecurity-attacks/3668883001/
