VINTAGE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES, MASKS AND MORE

A friend of ours is making her granddaughter's annual Halloween costume. It's a pretty straight forward affair--and since this is third one who wanted to be a princess--the costume making process is now a snap!  There are layers of relatively cheap pink tulle for the skirt--all hot glued to a ballet suit---and the crown was found in the local CVS. Of course it will be glittered.

That got us to once more thinking about vintage Halloween costumes, masks and accessories----home-made or store-bought----in the days before the politically correct invaded the holiday (and which is devoutly ignored in most families we know). Check out these assorted images below--all rights reserved where indicated.

And yes, It seems that back in the 70's, St. Ann kept fascinating company(!). And how about that shot from a 1956 British Legion carnival--we think this is the cleverest use of a spaghetti strainer we've seen in years!

There's lots of vintage Ben Cooper costumes featured in previous auctions at Serioustoyz too. Again, click on the photos and enjoy. And for more about the history of Collegeville Costumes https://www.valleyforge.org/blog/post/little-shop-of-horrors/

  1. We're trick or treating two towns over where things are still normal.
