Welcome
to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history,
our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of
worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
BY SPECIAL REQUEST - AND A REPEAT PERFORMANCE - A FASCINATING ARTICLE FROM THE ROCKLAND COUNTY MESSENGER DATED AUGUST 23, 1866 on the early days of the Methodist Encampments (Camp Meetings) that used to occur in Ossining (then called Sing Sing), Croton and beyond. Click on the images below.
FYI: In 2017, the Croton Arboretum included the Methodist Campgrounds as part of their annual garden tour; the historic Methodist Campwoods Grounds in Ossining is now the secular home to 45 families who have converted turn-of-the-century gingerbread summer cottages into full-time homes. More here
