Who died this date in 1973 and one of our favorite actresses (click on the photo).
Passionate, fearless, and exciting Anna Magnani (1908-1973) was the ‘volcano’ of the Italian cinema.
The unkempt, earthy actress radiated such fierce intelligence and sensuality that she became a major star with Rossellini's Roma, città aperta/Rome, Open City (1945), and won an Oscar for her portrayal of a Sicilian widow in The Rose Tattoo (1955).
