We just love bringing you unusual vintage holiday items--here's a vintage "Parasol" tree, courtesy of collector Scotty.
If we had to guess, given the mid-century modern feel, we'd say it dates from the 1950's. Not entirely sure we'd have it as a stand-alone piece but it certainly would be effective surrounded by lots of made in Japan Christmas kitsch from the same period. The ornaments are held on with alligator clips. It's followed by one of our favorite shots of actress Norma Shearer, 1930.
And then next--from our friend David, a table full of antique and vintage Christmas goodness, Santas, putz houses, etc.--made in Japan and Germany....and finally in case you missed it, a classic English church from Howard (see more of it, the pattern, etc. here.)

For those who don't know, Eric Knight (author of Lassie Come Home and This Above All) lived in Croton-on-Hudson. He was killed in a plane crash in 1943 that took the lives of fellow resident William Hodson and 35 other Americans. You can read more about it here
