ON THIS DATE IN 1964, ZERO MOSTEL, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF....AND....

On this date in 1964, the original Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof opened at the Imperial Theatre.  Songwriting team Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick collaborated with librettist Joseph Stein to write a musical based on stories by Sholom Aleichem.
