EXPLOSIVE LEVELS OF GAS DETECTED in catchbasin at intersection of Old Post Road and Brook Street, behind the Municipal Building.

Croton fire, police, EMS and Con Ed are on scene. Police are searching house-to-house with Con Ed to find source of gas leak. There was a previous gas leak just a few days ago at the same location. Traffic is blocked off, including pedestrian traffic, due to risk of explosion.

3:40 pm update, Con Ed dug up part of the west side of Old Post Rd just north of Brook Street. Crews are continuing work at the site. Traffic is flowing but there is only 1 lane 

12/24 update: They got an even larger backhoe and started digging again early this morning.
