And now here's one for the Christmas bucket list...Click on the photos and links.
Add this made-for-TV DVD to your Christmas film archives....the 1979 production of AN AMERICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Yes...it is schmaltzy....and sentimental...but so well done.
Directed by Eric Till and based on Charles Dickens' 1843 novella A Christmas Carol, it stars Henry Winkler--yes Fonzie--as Bernard Slade, a depression-era Scrooge. He is really quite effective in part.
The plot is simple enough---in Depression-era Concord, New Hampshire, a miserly businessman named Benedict Slade receives a long-overdue attitude adjustment one Christmas Eve when he is visited by three ghostly figures who resemble three of the people whose possessions Slade had seized to collect on unpaid loans.
Read more about it here. p.s. It was released on Blu-ray in December 2012.
It's also available on Amazon and a must-add to your Christmas movie library.Note: All content on this blog is Copyright (c) by Maria Cudequest and by the posters who have contributed specific content. One of my favorite adaptations of A Christmas Carol. Winkler is stellar, and I especially enjoy Dayton native Dorian Harewood as the Ghost of Christmas Future.
