SOME MORE RECENTLY UNEARTHED BITS & PIECES ABOUT CROTON NOTABLES: ABE BIRNBAUM, MAURICE STERNE AND PETER STRAUSS - Click on the photos and links.

First up, a great article about Abe Birnbaum--from 1983--and an exhibit of his work at Cornelia Cotton's art gallery...click here to read the best article about Birnbaum, his art for the New Yorker Magazine and more.

Next up, a 10/19/51 article about sculptor and painter Maurice Sterne....Maurice Sterne (Latvian: Moriss Šterns, August 18, 1878 in Latvia – July 23, 1957 in Mount Kisco), was an American sculptor and painter remembered today for his association with Croton's Mabel Dodge Luhan, to whom he was married from 1916 to 1923.

YOU CAN SEE A FLICKR GALLERY OF HIS WORK HERE. AND READ MORE ABOUT MABEL DODGE LUHAN HERE

Next, did you know that Croton's Peter Strauss once played Peter Gunn?

The 1989 film/pilot, complete with Henry Mancini's score, never made it to a television series.

Read all about that and much more in A VALENTINE FOR PETER STRAUSS at GORETRO.COM HERE.
