After some downtime from "Christmas cleaning"(!), your editor found an hour (or two) to go through the old Photoplay Magazines from 1941 and 1942 again--something we've wanted to do for a long time. The war years were certainly interesting times in the movie business.

First up, an ad from 1942 for the quintessential holiday movie featuring Irving Berlin's White Christmas--Holiday Inn. It's followed by a fabulous 1941 shot of Lucille Ball. We tend to remember her only as that wacky I LOVE LUCY--when in actuality, she was really quite pretty. And Ball is followed by a simply marvelous shot of Errol Flynn, 1941....click on the photos and enjoy!

There's something about honeycomb tissue decorations--any time of year--one of our favorite sources is PARTY CHEAP.
