The Croton Caring Committee hosted a “Thanksgiving Luncheon” to honor Pete Tsagarakis and the Croton Colonial Diner, for their over forty years of generous support and service to the community. (CLICK ON THE PHOTO). The Caring Committee presented Pete with a plaque and also has named a scholarship for him to be presented at next years high school graduation. Entertainment by Don Simons and Lenny Franco, decorations by the Girl Scouts, transportation as needed from the Knights of Columbus.

I can't think of a better choice in Croton for this award. Well deserved and appreciated. Pete is also known for his generous food donations to other organizations regardless of political party, religion, etc. He's a person who represents a true patriot!
ReplyDeleteReaders should recall that years ago, Pete was denied a permit to install a handicap ramp for seniors and disabled. Guess who voted for that stupid rejection. As a Senior, I recall it every time I visit Pete's Croton Colonial Diner. You know, the one with the American flag. Did our Village Board have an ax to grind? Although it's too late now, it might be a good time for the Village to honor Pete with some form of recognition for his generous contributions over the past 52+ years!
Where can one read about the stupid decision that keeps my husband from entering the diner with his walker? Many times an elderly person is seen coming down those stairs risking their limbs with a fall something should be done before someone is badly injured trying to feed themselves. There is NO other diner in Westchester or Duchess county that lacks handicap access...DnD in Ossining that's the place we go to so much for patronizing locally. Why is it too late with all the things going on in this village there must be more to the story...
ReplyDeleteStart with the planning board minutes, Gazette letters, etc. on the subject. (The Croton Library used to--and may still--keep copies of The Gazette on file). While the search function on the village website is not the best, it is improved.
ReplyDeleteReach out to the Daubneys. They had letters in the paper as I recall.
