MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

Not long ago we mentioned that a local Croton shop--Sunshine & Clover--was carrying reproductions of the Gurley/Tavern holiday candles so popular in the 40's and 50's. The repros are much larger than their original counterparts but the charm is still there in spades and are being made by Two's Company.

Imagine our delight when we came across this full page Christmas ad for Tavern Candles in a December 17, 1945 edition of Life Magazine--from our recent vintage magazine haul at a tag sale. Click on all the photos. Enjoy!

P.S. Vermont Country Store also features nostalgic repros of Tavern/Gurley candles during assorted holidays vermontcountrystore.com

Once upon a time Christmas lights were made everywhere--not just China. Click on the link to see a great old ad from 1965 featuring US manufactured, Italy, etc. light sets
