Welcome
to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our
homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING
CROTON.
So delighted to share this find: The Croton Point Lighthouse, August 1935--a home grown, hand-typed "newspaper" that existed for those who lived out on the Point a.k.a. the Bungalow Colony. Courtesy once again of the outstanding archives maintained by The Croton Historical Society. Click on the scans.

Imagine what it must have been like to live out there before the county turned it into a full fledged dump for decades, forever linking Croton and garbage. It must have been a great way to grow up.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great way to grow up. I came up for two weeks every summer from Valentine Avenue in the Bronx (my uncles lived in Croton), and I thought it was like heaven.
