CROTON....CALDER....

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

As some of you know, Alexander Calder was one of the village's most famous residents.

VIA THE Croton Historical Society--According to the Calder Foundation website, the Calder family moved to Croton in the winter of 1909 and Alexander Calder attended public school here. They probably rented the home from the Stevensons. Here’s a photo of Calder and his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Calder in 1910 in the doorway of the Croton house. At the time the house was one story. The Stevensons added the second story in 1917. (YOU CAN SEE THE PHOTO AT https://calder.org/historical.../calder-and-his-sister-1910/)

But that's not where we're headed ultimately. Check out a blog post on Calder from..... ART & ARTISTS: 2026-03-22

Many thanks to "Unpretentious Croton Painter" for the link!
