Grace T. Lattanzio (nee Hourigan), formerly of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. She was 81 years old. Grace was born on February 5, 1940 in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, NY to the late John and Irene (Moran) Hourigan. She attended St. Helena’s and the College of New Rochelle. In 1959, Grace met the love of her life, Jerry Lattanzio while the two were waiting for a ferry to attend a dance in New Rochelle, New York. The couple married in the Bronx, New York at St. Helena’s Parish on August 26, 1961. In March 1974, they became a family with the arrival of their daughter, Trish. Grace and her family moved to Croton-on-Hudson in May 1977, where she and Jerry lived until his passing in 2017. Grace was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Her smile and bright blue eyes lit up the room.
During her 40 years living in Croton, she loved volunteering, playing bridge any chance she got and participating in her monthly gourmet club. She was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church, participating in retreats and serving as an eucharistic minister. Grace unfortunately suffered several health issues over the years, including kidney cancer and a stroke, but her strong will and deep faith in God helped her overcome the obstacles and defeat the odds. Grace loved cooking and travel. One of her fondest memories was the trip she took with her Moran-Hourigan cousins to Ireland. Grace is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia (Trish) Lattanzio Hennessy, son-in-law Kevin Hennessy of New Rochelle, NY, her brother Jack Hourigan of Tampa, Florida, sister-in-law Barbara Hourigan of Mountain View, California, as well as many loving and amazing cousins. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Jerry and her brother, Joseph Hourigan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the HOLY NAME OF MARY CHURCH, 110 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14, 2021 also at Holy Name of Mary Church at 10AM. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Vallhalla, New York will take place on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions in Grace’s name be made to:
