CROTON YACHT CLUB HOSTS WOUNDED WARRIORS, REPORTS ON THE 2021 CATFISH CHAOS DERBY... AND MORE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

MANY THANKS TO DENNIS KOONEY FOR THE INFORMATION AND TO THE CROTON YACHT CLUB FOR HOSTING THE EVENT:

On August 14th, the Hudson River Fisherman’s Association held their annual Catfish Chaos Derby.

There were 91 adults and 33 youths who participated in the HRFA catfish derby. The winner of the adult division was Jesse Brody Pleasantville, NY with a 31” catfish caught near Croton Point.

The youth division was won by Logan Schwan 14 Valhalla, NY with a 23” catfish caught at the Croton Yacht Club.

There were approximately 20 Wounded Warriors including their family members who fished at the Yacht Club. Fishing was slow at the Yacht Club and river wide due to high water temperatures and unfavorable tides.

The Yacht Club was proud and honored to host the event for those heroes who attended and we were happy to provide a safe and comfortable setting for them. Each Wounded Warrior participant left with new fishing pole and reel courtesy of the Wounded Warrior foundation.
