THOUGHTS ON 2021'S JULY 4TH---JOYFULLY CELEBRATED IN MOST CIRCLES, DECLARED "A RACIST HOLIDAY" IN OTHERS

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

This year's July 4th holiday was truly a blessing....So much has changed....in so many ways...from 2020.

Covid vaccines, for those who choose them, have been available since last year.  Churches and temples are once again having in-person---and often maskless---services. Restaurants and taverns are operating at increased--if not full--capacity, and 2021 saw the return of Macy's Fireworks too......(For the SPECTACULAR 2021 Macy's Show, go to NEWS 10 HERE).

It was also wonderful to see not one but three Snowy Egrets down at the Croton estuary---the osprey nest is also back at cell tower---and despite threatening weather, blue skies were largely abundant throughout the weekend.

And while some local businesses were closed for the celebration, quite a few had limited hours but celebrated with July 4th specials, displays and tastings---apple pie, hamburgers, ribs, barbecue chicken and hot dogs too-----and did we mention the flags?  Throughout the Town of Cortlandt, American flags, patriotic bunting and banners were displayed just about everywhere. Revolutionary War re-enactments returned up and down the river towns as well.

All and all, a wonderful July 4th, very much reminiscent of pre-pandemic days.

Stay tuned for more photos soon!

And then.....the usual post-holiday madness reared it's ugly head.  It's 2021 and July 4th and all its accessory events have now been declared....wait for it.........racist!

Here are just three recent articles.  The rest devoutly to be ignored.  Or if you like, do your own due diligence:

Looking forward to the next holiday!

    1. Yes! Beautiful photo. We had the whole family over again but then to be honest we never really stopped. We had hot dogs and hamburgers, my daughter made an Ambrosia salad and home made peach ice cream. The barbecue drives our vegan neighbor a little nuts but we barbecue year round. It takes a blizzard to get my husband to stop. Hah! Hope everyone had a happy fourth. God bless America.
