MORE FROM THE WE NEED THIS & THAT FOLKS....AND A THANK YOU TO THE CROTON BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

It's seems that every few months---and more often in recent years---the blog gets a manifesto from the food police...

The latest commenter (who went unpublished) complained that Everything Croton "gets too excited over ordinary run-of-the mill food businesses that do nothing for the visual appeal or overall health of the community and its children.  What we need are businesses like Whole Foods and the Brooklyn Market in Dobbs Ferry..."

Your editor will spare you the rest.  The Whole Foods scenario (also known as Whole Paycheck) has been beaten to death so we'll skip that too.  But we could not leave the "Brooklyn Market in Dobbs Ferry" part alone because....

It just closed two weeks ago after less than a year...https://www.lohud.com/story/life/food/2019/01/31/brooklyn-market-dobbs-ferry-closing/2731239002/

What more is there to say...except thank you to the Croton business community, big and small. Your constant support of our schools, sports teams, houses of worship and assorted charitable endeavors, certainly makes you numero uno in our books...and far from "run-of-the-mill".  And many of you have been here for a long, long time!

p.s. Evelyn's/Apple Farm will be opening in the spring.

  1. Where's the farmers market? Didn't everyone want one?

  2. Is this really real? Look, I'm not some old "fuddy duddy." I'm a fairly young person who lived in the city for a long time. I don't WANT Croton to be like the city. That's why I don't live in the city anymore. Folks who want Brooklyn amenities, go to Brooklyn. Live in Brooklyn. There's so much good stuff here in Croton and the surrounding towns. Maybe it's not always obvious because the signage/storefront doesn't scream "hipster central," but there are so many of us younger folks who prefer it that way. Keep Croton small-town.

    1. Thank you Cozy. Alas, one only needs to look at local social media sites and more to see constant complaints about Croton's lack of good beer....or...a Trader Joe's...or...a Thai restaurant....or a cocktail lounge...or "healthy eating opportunities" and more. Most of the time these comments are simply ignored here at the blog, but every once in a while, a doozy comes in that merits a response. This was one of them.
