We love birding in the Hudson Valley and following the GREAT BLUE HERONS down at the Croton Estuary in particular. They seem to prefer the quieter times on the weekends when there is less station traffic and trains. Today there were at least five in the phragmites at the far end---but we managed this close-up of a heron that had just swallowed what appeared to be an eel!
