DEAR EDITOR

Over the past three months, the Village led a hiring process for a new Assistant Village Manager, a second-in-command position in our Village. The hiring committee, formed by the Village Manager, selected a final candidate. During that time, we were told nothing beyond the current number of candidates still in the running. At no point were we told who the candidates were or that our fellow board members had received any additional updates. Whenever we asked for further details, we were told the information couldn’t be shared to protect candidates’ privacy and that this was standard practice. The candidate ultimately selected, Nora Nicholson, was a sitting Village Trustee throughout the hiring process.
