VINTAGE CROTON "MAN OF THE YEAR EVENTS"--BY SPECIAL REQUEST ETC ETC ETC

ASSORTED ITEMS: We heard from a former resident who was nostalgic for the days when "MAN OF THE YEAR" events were essentially "a big deal" and "a point of personal pride"---they were especially to the men in most families back then.

Many of these awards were driven by the houses of worship and occasionally, village organizations and clubs.  She asked for an index of our posts here at the blog months ago, but we only got around to it now. We plead holidays and snow! Many thanks to one of the EC "Elfs" for their assistance. Click on the links below for what we immediately found----there will be more:

***2016 JOE COSTANZO, MAN OF THE YEAR, KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS; click here

***FROM 1983, JAMES MOORE, GREGG PAGE, MEN OF THE YEAR, Croton Chamber of Commerce, click here

***2015 THE LATE BILL RYDER, KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS; click here

***1968 JOE ZERELLO FOR HIS 30 YEARS OF MUNICIPAL SERVICE, from the Croton Chamber of Commerce; unfortunately, that item is no longer available; you can check with the historical society.

A reader has many happy memories of skating at the duck pond back in the mid to late fifties with her brother and asked if there is anything available for the time stated.

Response: There's these links (and one from 1960) but no doubt the Croton Historical Society has more. Contact them directly. Croton Historical Society
