Contrary to some MSM outlets---social media--and the usual trolling here as well---the women's team declined the invitation to attend President Trump’s State of the Union address because of timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following their Olympic win. A USA Hockey spokesperson emphasized they were “sincerely grateful for the invitation” and that the decision was not political. Player Kelly Pannek reiterated that the team’s absence was due to logistical challenges, not any protest or refusal.
A future visit is on the agenda, date to be determined. Any additional questions or comments should be referred to the aforementioned parties. Looking forward to this event. And in case you missed it U.S. men's hockey team visits White House after gold medal win
