LOHUD--WHY NATURAL GAS, NUCLEAR, CLEAN ENERGY STRUGGLES SPIKED NY UTILTIY COSTS

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

BEHIND PAYWALL AT LOHUD:

In just seven pages, the nonprofit that oversees New York’s electric grid offers up a thorough, if alarming, take on an issue confronting ratepayers statewide.

Why are my electric bills so high? Why are NY electric bills so high? Blame this complex web of factors

  1. Here in Croton on Hudson where we’re served by Cohn Edison, 2/3 of the cost of our electric bill is the delivery of the electricity to our house And taxes. The energy cost has been dancing between nine cents a kilowatt hour to $.12 a kilowatt hour unless you’re stupid enough to buy power from the corrupt Westchester power syndicate. Now they’re trying to convince us that our problem is the cost of fossil energy when it’s not the case.
