  1. When we got married, Shelia's folks gave us three books of S&H Green Stamps to buy something for our home. The only thing we needed that we could buy with three books was a garden hose. The building where we cashed them in is still there, but, of course, it's changed hands many times since.

  2. In our house, we were more PLAID STAMPS and Triple S with large nearby redemption stores. They got us a trendy kidney bean shaped coffee table, a marginal but handy black and white t,v, and an electric can opener in HARVEST GOLD. Going to redeem the books was a big deal, usually accompanied by dinner or lunch "out" at a place called 7 BROTHERS---it made the best BASKLAVA.
