If "A Wedding for Bella" is the perfect Valentine's Day film, then one of our favorite films for the St. Patrick's season is 1952's THE QUIET MAN.
The film stars John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, Victor McLaglen, Barry Fitzgerald and Ward Bond. Directed by John Ford, the screenplay by Frank S. Nugent was based on a 1933 Saturday Evening Post short story of the same name by Irish author Maurice Walsh.

It was an official selection of the 1952 Venice Film Festival. John Ford won the Academy Award for Best Director, his fourth, and Winton Hoch won for Best Cinematography.
