Chronicle Editorial: The people of Croton have a right to know why Oliver Fernandez was at Maple Commons.
Fernandez already had a warrant out for his arrest in a case based in Ossining when he was apprehended here and charged with illegal possession of a loaded handgun.

Early last week, the Croton Police Department issued a media release announcing that, on January 31 of this year, officers had arrested Oliver Fernandez of the Bronx after following his car out of Maple Commons. Fernandez allegedly tried to flee police after they determined he had an outstanding warrant from a case originating in Ossining, but was quickly blocked by police vehicles and apprehended.
Fernandez was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded handgun previously lost by a police department in Georgia. The announcement had been delayed as police conducted further investigation, a police spokesperson told the Chronicle.
In the following days the Chronicle reported further details, including the fact that the outstanding warrant had been for criminal contempt (alleged violation of a protection order) and that Fernandez was accused of disseminating an “intimate image” of another person. We also learned that he had been charged with three counts of criminal gun possession, and that he had been accused in 2019 by New York City authorities of being a member of the notorious Trinitarios gang.
(We have no information about any current gang affiliations.)
Fernandez has a court date in Westchester County Court on Wednesday, March 26, and in Croton Village Court on April 2.
This is now the second criminal case involving Maple Commons. READ MORE AT Chronicle Editorial: The people of Croton have a right to know why Oliver Fernandez was at Maple Commons.
Let's take a look at the rental lease agreements to see what rules/language are in the lease that define causes for eviction and see what the owner/landlord says. Keeping bad company or knowingly harboring a criminal is not good. There are families there with small chidren.
ReplyDeleteShhhhhhhhh we have a narrative to project and protect.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that a few yrs ago Fernandez was on NYPD’s wanted posters & TV alerts in connection with arrests of 15 Dominican Trinitarios gang members for various violent assaults in the Bronx. (The gang, comprising male and female members, is known as one of the most notoriously dangerous gangs, machetes being their weapon of choice, often compared to MS-13 in their level of violence and ability to terrorize the many communities in multiple states and countries in which they are now located. And while scores of arrests often appear on US Atty and ICE releases, specific names mentioned seem to be limited to those gang members actually committing the many murders, not all the other crimes are listed, so it’s difficult to tell from these releases whether Fernandez is still a “member”, i.e., bound to follow orders from gang leaders, or just still associating around with its members, if Village, Police and Court officials refuse to divulge that info to us).

I sent a strong letter to the Board of Trustees for the 3/19/25 BoT Meeting with all the above info and internet links pushing them to provide us info re Who Fernandez was visiting at Maple Commons? What is his interest in and connection to Croton, etc? and What protective and precautionary measures are being put into place for our safety, particularly in light of the possible gang connection? More police, injunctions, etc.?
Not surprisingly, Mayor Pugh arrogantly ducked the whole issue, making one of his typical gaslighting statements at the end of the meeting ignoring the very real actual crime concerns relating to Fernandez, his loaded gun, gang history & outstanding warrants. Instead, Pugh did his old tried & true divisive virtue signaling ploy trying to make it seem as if it’s just some residents not wanting Affordable Housing. And he quoted that there’s “No evidence that Affordable Housing brings an increase in crime.” Totally ignoring these actual FACTS and that we’re not dealing with just a “hypothetical” here!!! He expressed no concern at all for our safety or well-being… acting like these violent crimes did not happen!
Our Village Officials, incl the Pugh Admin, Police and Justices need to hear from all residents who have safety concerns about the encroachment of violent crime in our Village at Maple Commons, and possibly also at the impending Lot A project. If this type of crime, involving gang related criminals, starts to get a foothold in our Village, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to control, particularly by a Village Admin. who think it’s ok to bully senior residents, but obviously have no backbone, will or clue how to combat violent or gang crime!
Thank you. I will be posting contact info for village officials. I know several people have been attempting to comment without success and appreciate you're continuing to try. (A glitch in the matrix perhaps, smile.)
DeleteThe mayor will double down on this and will not relent, he’s a certified leftist, and he was labeled that by an ex Democrat Trustee. It is paramount that he is voted out along with his two Trustee candidates.
