CAR FIRE EXTENDS TO SECOND CAR, HOUSE AND BRUSH ON GIGLIO COURT
Around 8:15 PM Saturday, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department was alerted to a “Car fire inside the garage” on Giglio Court in the Village of Croton.
Car 2083 arrived minutes later with heavy fire showing from two cars, extending to the home and nearby brush and requested a 2nd Alarm be transmitted.
Members quickly advanced three hose lines to extinguish the fire while simultaneously conducting searches of the home to make sure all occupants escaped safely and to check for fire spread within it.
Members encountered magnesium components in the one vehicle, which required the use of specialized fire extinguishers to snuff out the explosive white flames it created.
After the vehicles and structural fire were knocked down, focus was made to stop the spreading brush fires, members conducted overhaul and Mutual Aid units started to be released from the scene.
The combination of the quick moving brush fires, the size of the house involved and due to is having an Engine and our Tower Ladder out for repairs prompted the 2nd Alarm and we appreciate the response of our Mutual Aid partners.
Thank you to Bedford Hills, Buchanan, Millwood, Montrose, Ossining, Peekskill & Yorktown FDs for responding to the scene and to Tarrytown & Verplanck FDs for covering our district.
Appreciation to Croton EMS, Ossining EMS and Peekskill EMS Rehab Unit for their response as well. PHOTOS AT (1) CAR FIRE EXTENDS TO SECOND CAR,... - Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department | Facebook
