FROM THE CROTON FD FB PAGE--MUTUAL AID BRUSH FIRE
Around 2:30 PM Friday, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department was requested with an Engine and manpower to a large Brush Fire in the Montrose Fire District.
Engine 118 answered the call, with members aiding the other half dozen or so area departments on College Hill Road off of Montrose Station Road.
E118 secured a positive water source and advanced nearly 1,000 feet of hose into the woods. E118 personnel would receive assistance around 4:00 PM when Tanker 10 was called to the scene for relief.
Members of Chemical & Washington Engine Companies operated for about 3.5 hours before heading back to town. Utility 14 would eventually end up on scene as well to pack up our hose to clean and re-pack Engine 118.
Members of all five Companies and Explorer Post 2089 assisted with getting our apparatus & equipment back into service in short order. Ten members operated with 2084, E118, T10 & U14 in Montrose, and another 15 members remained in town with E120, R18 & 2081 relieving a coverage Engine from the Millwood FD.
Montrose, Buchanan, Verplanck, Continental Village, Yorktown and Pocantico Hills FDs were on scene, while an Engine from Ossining covered Montrose’s HQ.
Thanks again to Millwood for covering us and for taking in an alarm in Croton while we operated in Montrose. SEE THE PHOTOS AT MUTUAL AID BRUSH FIRE Around... - Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department | Facebook
