Knights of Columbus Crown Free Throw Champions
The local level of competition for the 2016 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship was held on January 22nd at the James R. Moore gymnasium at Holy Name of Mary Church on Grand Street. All girls and boys ages 9 to 14 were invited to participate in the annual skill event in which winners progress through district and state competition. All of the contestants received a certificate for their participation and sharpshooting skills.
The winners in the girls’ groups were 9-year old Lily Moore, 10-year old Emma Windrum, 11-year old Anjane Nathan, 12-year old Lindsey DeLasho, and in the 14-year old category, Caleigh Moore.
The boys’ champions were Aidan Callahan (9), Evan Kurtz (10), Brian Osborne (11), Jake Sharkey (12), Wyatt Robinson (13), and Sean Reynolds (14). Each of these winners will compete in a district competition to be held in the next few weeks, with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels.
