UPDATE ON ODOR AT VILLAGE OF CROTON ON HUDSON FB PAGE

VILLAGE FB PAGE: The Village is aware of the odor that has been present over the past couple of days. The Engineering Dept. and DPW have examined Village infrastructure, and found no probable cause for the smell. Furthermore, we've conducted outreach to Con Ed, Metro North, CSX, Historic Hudson Valley, the Westchester County Health Department and others to inquire about any recent activities that may have led to the odor. At this point, none of these agencies/organizations have identified a potential source, but we will continue to investigate. If you continue to smell the odor or have any questions, please feel free to contact the Village at 914-271-4848. https://www.facebook.com/CrotonGov/

AND FROM THE CROTON FD FB PAGE - We have received dozens of inquiries from the public, media and many of our followers here on the CFD's Facebook Page pertaining to the mystery odor around the southern end of our village. The following information is from the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Facebook page, and is being shared thanks to Village Manager Janine King.

"The Village is aware of the odor that has been present over the past couple of days. The Engineering Dept. and DPW have examined Village infrastructure, and found no probable cause for the smell. If you continue to smell the odor or have any questions, please feel free to contact the Village at 914-271-4848."

Further, Village Manager King reports that Quest Environmental has been called in to assist with this investigation. Additional information from Chief Mansfield and the Village will be available later tonight or tomorrow.

Like always, we will continue to keep you informed of this situation. Should you think you have a hazardous or emergent condition that requires the assistance of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. Thank you.

  1. There's a 50-ft cat who roams the streets of Croton at night. There's your answer.

    1. I actually some really silly comments trying to hold the board responsible, that's right, the whole board! Now you may not like everyone on the board, but come on, does anyone really believe they're all sitting around twirling their thumbs. If those people spent 10% of their time making calls or emailing or doing research instead. Kind of sad. So to the board and all the people who've done more than complain (I wanted to use the other word) and to our volunteers, not to mention everything Croton, thank you. Didn't smell it today and hopefully it's gone.

    3. Snarky comments holding the mayor accountable too. Don't understand how these people can think some of this stuff is funny. This may be serious. It may be something natural in the environment. It's being checked by just about everybody. How about less of this sniping simply because the November election didn't turn out the way you'd like. Really tired of it. Thanks to our board and everyone else for their hard work.
