ONCE AGAIN, YOU JUST CAN'T STOP THE CROTON VILLAGE GARDEN CLUB!

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

If the newly resurrected Croton Village Garden Club teaches us anything, it's that it's not enough to simply throw some plants in the ground and run. Maintenance is key! And so once again, the club has turned its hand to another neglected spot in Harmon, the front of the median strip on Benedict on North Riverside--weeding must have been epic! New mulch, trimming, and perfectly arranged flowering plants--a beautiful job; click on the photos--which do not do the entire scene justice. Kudos to the volunteers...again!

  1. You guys are amazing, with a capital A. I was having breakfast at LaMonica's the other day and thinking how good everything looked butalso thinking the village had to do a better job with upkeep and boom, you did it again. Wish I could help but the job and family keep me busy. I did cut a whole lot faux grapevine winding itself around a street tree though. That stuff is nasty and the grapes don't even taste good.

  4. I look around the village these days and the biggest improvements here come from volunteers and businesses. This garden club is one of the best things to happen in a long time. I salute you all.

  5. These volunteers are like the duck pond committee. they get past all the place-seeking and just DO it. It reminds me a lot of Richard Palicci's "Can Do" group.

  6. Hi Peter! I agree - the Duck Pond Group under Karalyn Lamb is amazing.
I set up the CAN DO group...I can't believe anyone remembers that...We planted the cherry trees in the 'bump out' by the elementary school. Thanks!
