The Hudson-Fulton Celebration was held from September 25 to October 9, 1909 in New York and New Jersey--it was an elaborate commemoration of the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of the Hudson River and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton first successful commercial application of the paddle steamer. The event was celebrated with great fanfare, parades and more in New York City and a number of Hudson valley towns and villages as well. Croton was one of them.
