PHOTOS FROM FATHER MIKE's WINE & CHEESE FAREWELL RECEPTION AT HOLY NAME

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short EVERYTHING CROTON Croton.

On June 25th, a wine and cheese farewell reception was held for Father Michael “Mike” Keane at Holy Name of Mary. To say that it was well attended would be an understatement—with fellowship, good food, and more than the occasional tear. It’s safe to say Father Mike will be dearly missed. SOME PHOTOS, JUNE 14TH FLAG DAY AT UMAMI CAFE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

On June 14th (FLAG DAY), UMAMI Restaurant (Located at the corner of South Riverside and Oneida Avenues in the heart of Harmon) held a special event in commemoration of Flag Day. They donated half their profits to the American Legion Post 505 and VFW Post 5197 in Croton. In addition, they also hosted a group of WWII Vehicle collectors and reenactors who displayed vintage vehicles and uniforms from WWII.

The restaurant opened at 5 PM and featured an extended menu. We couldn't stay for the festivities but here's some photos of a World War II Army jeep that was on display in the lot. All photos, all rights reserved, M. Cudequest: www.flickr.com/photos/22283683@N07/sets/72157626965089670/

JUNE 10TH UPDATE: THE 1916 SEARS CATALOG

It will be a very long time before the 1916 Sears Christmas/Winter catalog is completely scanned for your viewing pleasure...so for now, we'll just let you know when we add large batches to the set--and we added A LOT this week.

Please note that the catalog is NOT in any particular order. Whatever pages are falling out or in danger of completely disintegrating--are the ones that get immediate attention.

This update is a real treat for renovators, with more period carpets, hanging lamps, sconces, lighting and the like. Retro kitchen lovers will find something too, while vintage firearms collectors will find revolvers, Winchesters, Smith & Wesson, etc. Enjoy! Click the link:
