Reporting on Birdsall House and its $52,000 back-rent judgment is newsworthy (Peekskill Herald, Aug. 25). But it also raises a larger question: why have so many established Peekskill businesses disappeared since the pandemic?

Up until a few months ago, our aunt still lived there. The stress and constant worry as her street declined one house after the other finally proved too much. We are so happy she is out of there.
