SOLEMN FIRST VESPERS, MICHAELMAS, WITH HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL SIMONI, IMPRISONED 18 YEARS UNDER ALBANIA'S COMMUNIST REGIME
9/28 A very special event is coming up. Ernest Cardinal Simoni will be visiting the area and celebrating Solemn Vespers at the church of St. Margaret of Cortona in Riverdale, Bronx. 94-year-old Cardinal Simoni was imprisoned for 18 years under Albania's communist regime. Pope Francis called him a "living martyr" and elevated him to the College of Cardinals in 2016.
