JESSICA DIECKMAN LETTER--ON RECENT VANDALISM INCIDENTS AND THE OFFICIAL RESPONSE---THANK YOU!

To the Editor,

Despite the apparent and unfortunate surge of vandalism espousing vulgar and vicious sentiments in our area (as with the very recent spray-painting of ‘F*** ICE’ on our beautiful and respected Croton Dam landmark, and the scratching of swastikas in the vicinity of Croton Landing Park), good can certainly prevail and these incidents were taken very seriously. I extend thanks to the Westchester County Police and their division on graffiti (under whom the jurisdiction of the Croton Dam falls), who began their investigation of the vandalism of the Dam without hesitation. Likewise, thanks to our own Village Board of Trustees and local police, who took swift action to identify, investigate and remove the vandalism at Croton Landing Park. It sends the message clearly that those who maliciously vandalize to provoke and frighten will not be respected or tolerated.

Sincerely,

Jessica Dieckman

  1. We've gotten a number of comments asking about any video surveillance at the Croton Dam. Inquiries have been made. If anything credible comes in....it will be posted here.
