STATEMENT FROM THE VILLAGE BOARD ON ANTISEMTIC SYMBOLS

Statement from the Village Board of Trustees on Antisemitic Symbols - Posted on: February 19, 2026 - 4:00pm

On Sunday, February 15, the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department was notified that two swastikas were found etched into the portable toilet at Croton Landing Park.

In accordance with established protocols for incidents involving hate symbols within the Village, the Croton Police Department initiated an on-site investigation and reported the matter to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. As soon as practicable, the affected structure was removed and replaced. There are no further updates at this time; however, additional information will be shared with the community as it becomes available.

The Village Board of Trustees extends our appreciation to the individuals who promptly reported this antisemitic incident and to the Croton Police Department for their continued diligence and dedication to the safety and well-being of our community. We condemn hate symbols and stand with our Jewish neighbors and all those affected by the appearance of the swastikas.

We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson affirms the human rights of all who visit, work or live in our Village. We aim to be an inclusive and safe place for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual identity, faith, disability, language, socioeconomic status or immigration status.

Anyone with information related to this incident, or any incidents of hate in our village, is encouraged to contact the Detective Division of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department at 914-271-5177.
