First up, from 1880, a little blurb about Croton notable, former Finney Farm visitor, etc. HORACE GREELEY. (Greeley didn’t live in Croton, his daughter did. She married Samuel Sinclair, publisher of the Tribune, who built Finney Farm per historian Marc Cheshire).
Read more about Greeley and his Croton connection here.
Next up, an ad for Croton's own Gloria Swanson in the 1922 silent film, THE IMPOSSIBLE MRS. BELLEW.
Directed by Sam Wood, the film is based on the 1916 novel of the same name by David Lisle.
It is considered lost.
From a 1922 p.r. blurb: Swanson plays a virtuous wife who sacrifices her spotless reputation to save her graceless husband from the gallows and protect their son.
It's followed by a 1920/1921 ad for Lash-Brow-Ine featuring Gloria Swanson and a product endorsement for the parent company, Maybell Laboratories out of Chicago.
The company would eventually become the more familiar Maybelline.
Next,
from 1967, an article from the Patent Trader:
"Croton's Andre de la Varre combines
career as concert pianist and producer"
(With mention of de la Varre
Sr. as well)
The film mentioned, SWITZERLAND AND THE ALPS, played to sell out audiences across the country.

My mom still uses Maybelline cosmetics. She also used to wear Tangee Lipstick which you can still get from Vermont Country Store.
