SERVICES & OBITUARY FOR DANIEL SHURE

Daniel Shure, 58, of Croton on Hudson died on September 7, 2017. A long-time and well-loved Croton resident, he was known for his affable personality, wit, and good humor. Dan graduated from Utica College and worked for many years at the City University of New York, most recently as Manager of Creative and Web Services. Earlier in his career he worked in public relations at Lehman College, Yeshiva University and Hunter College. He was a Board Member of the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct and of the Croton Arboretum....Graveside service will be at the Bethel Cemetery in Croton, Sunday, September 10th at 12:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dan's memory may be made to: Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct, Inc., 15 Walnut Street, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522. http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Daniel-Shure&lc=7336&pid=186606143&mid=7547309

  1. He was instrumental in getting attention to when the village was using Black Rock for dumping asphalt. He helped get them to stop.

    ASPHALT PILE REMOVAL HAS BEGUN @ BLACK ROCK IN CROTON, THANK YOU

    For those of you who missed it, Everything Croton received an email today that the asphalt piles at Black Rock were being removed as of approximately 7:30 am this morning. Your editor joins with other Village and Town residents in thanking everyone who became involved, particularly Mr. Daniel Shure who kept the ball rolling on this one, and to the Croton resident who provided photos for posting. A small portion of the asphalt millings will remain on site to be used in culvert work.
