While most cardboard Christmas houses a.k.a. putz houses were made in Japan and or Germany, the Dolly Toy Co. here in the U.S. did produce a line of houses (among other things)--that have become collectible today.
The houses always had elaborate window scenes. You can occasionally find them offered on EBAY or ETSY. Read more about the history of the company--which folded in 2008--by clicking on the link http://cardboardchristmas.com/papateds/DollyObit.html
Fast forward to the present--putz artisans Howard and Lynn have been putting together patterns
including the doors and windows for the Dolly Houses--so the more adventurous among us can make our own true to the original copies. (Click on the photo to see the single Dolly house.) There are plans in the works for
additional patterns for more houses.
Read more at the link below--you can get the templates and windows there too: http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1006
Wow this is really like the original. Thank you for the window templates guys. Linda
