HOLY NAME OF MARY'S GOD SQUAD CELEBRATES EARTH DAY 2014 IN CROTON

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

This was how the Holy Name of Mary God Squad celebrated Earth Day 2014:

Holy Name of Mary’s Youth Group, “God Squad,” helped our local senior citizens accomplish some everyday chores that many of us take for granted, as part of its first ever Earth Day “Spring Cleaning” project. The teens raked gardens and patios, cleaned out basements and gutters, turned over vegetable gardens and trimmed hedges. Click on the photo.

Youth Minister Carl Barnes and God Squad members launched this initiative in an effort to expand on their community awareness projects like the “Homeless Awareness Sleep-out” that benefits the homeless of Peekskill. Carl Barnes said that “it is his dream to someday create a Croton-wide “Day of Service” in which the families of Croton’s faith communities and the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops come together to serve others in our village in an effort to ‘get re-connected’ in each other’s lives.”

God Squad member, Charlie O’Brien’s take on the day was that “It was a lot of fun…definitely worth doing again.

  1. Do you still need someone to help take down the storm windows at so-and-so's house?
