MAILBOX---- TRAFFIC/VISITOR DATA REQUESTED

A reader writes---and I am paraphrasing here---that with "over 150 new units about to be crammed into the Croton Point/Harmon area"--traffic, noise and congestion from events like the Blaze are not our only concern. The county holds numerous events throughout the year (yesterday was an all-day Ecuadorian festival that made travel periodically onerous) and Croton Point Beach, when open, produces much visitor traffic.  There's also Eaglefest and the Hudson River Festival (used to be known as Clearwater). Add normal commuter traffic and...she wonders if there are any numbers for cars/visitors to these events?

Response: Certain it's out there.  Crowdsourcing the info and will post when and if it arrives.

Updated:

This just came in from Chris for Eaglefest:

Peak Years: A record turnout was set when over 4,000 participants attended the event. This total included visitors at the park as well as those at its surrounding partner viewing sites along the Hudson River. (From the River Journal)

  1. Ed was unable to post but he found some data: The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze in Croton-on-Hudson draws between 125,000 and 175,000 visitors annually, with some peak years approaching nearly 200,000 people.
